Dogwood There is a legend that the Dogwood was once a tree, whose wood was chosen for the cross on which Jesus died. Taking pity on the distress this caused the Dogwood, Jesus said "Never again shall the Dogwood Tree grow large enough to be used as a cross." It is said that the marks on the outer edges of the petals represent nail-prints, and the center represents the crown of thorns. |
